Skype has released version 2.0 of its communications software for Pocket PC devices. The publicly available upgrade contains numerous new features and fixes over previous versions. These include contact sync between Pocket PC and desktop Skype applications, updated 2.0 icons, fixed call ignore ringing. And of course Skype 2.0 supports calls from Skype to Skype and Skype to SkypeOut (ordinary phones). Skype 2.0 for Pocket PC runs on most Windows Mobile 2003, 2003SE and Windows Mobile 5 devices. HP is adding another powerful smart device to their repertoire - the first handheld to deliver real-time email updates via Microsoft's new Direct Push Technology. Unlike anything else on the market, the new HP iPAQ hw6900 handheld boasts cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS navigation technologies.
Additionally, HP is breaking off the Handheld division from the larger Mobile Computing division and a new VP will be stepping into this new team. HP is continuing to see great potential for the smart device market and is elevating handhelds into a separate focus.
