treo-hand.jpgKen Radio Broadcasting is reporting Smartphone shipments were up 75% in Q3 2005.  Global shipments of smart mobile devices up 75% year to year in Q3 2005.  Standalone handheld shipments fell 18%, while converged devices more than doubled in volume during the same period of time. The worldwide market for 'disconnected' handheld devices experienced its seventh consecutive quarter of year to year decline in Q3 2005.

 

Leader Nokia ships record 7.1 mln smart phones, up 142% year to year.  Palm shipments were down 2% overall, but Treo smart phones up 71%, overtaking its handhelds for
first time
