Hi EVeryone,

I'm afraid I don't haveanything to offer to those of you who've posted other questions however, I have one about mu PDA.

As stated above, its a Zire 71 about two to three years old, and I'm just starting to use it more and more BUT just recently, it's been acting erratically: the cursor point has been jumping around meaning that the PDA is constantly shifting from one progrm to another, or some such thing. I've done a couple of soft resets and one hard reset. When none of this worked I called Palm tech support, and was told that it was toast, but they would sell me a reconditioned zire 71 for $250Can. I didn't bite, but I wonder if anybody here can give me some direction withthis?

Hello Brad,

Paul from palmOne here. There are a couple of possibilities for why a
digitizer acts erratically that include solutions, which you may weant
to try.

# Do you use an adhesive screen protector? A screen
protector which is trapped under the screen edge may interfere with touchscreen
calibration. Occasionally, just having the screen protector on the screen can
cause the issue. Try removing the screen protector.

# You may have debris trapped under the edge of the screen.
Use the corner of a piece of thin, stiff paper (copier paper works well) to
very gently slide all around the edge of the screen. Don't let the corner of
the paper travel more than an eighth of an inch under the screen edge frame. By
doing this, you may be able to dislodge small particles of debris trapped under
the frame.

Best

Paul
