I have tried 2 different replacement batterys (Hi Capacity #B-8634).   I have tried 2 different chargers for two days each.  The battery will not charge.  I have tried a HARD RESET and an IN-CRADLE RESET.  The battery voltage measure 3.73V.  When I place the original battery back in it will charge up to 4.05V.  The original battery works fine, except it is approximately 2 ½ years old and won't hold a charge as long as it used to.  The M130 shuts down when the original battery voltage reaches 3.75V.  I tried discharging the original battery down to 3.73V because there might be some intelligence in the battery charger that requires the replacement battery voltage to be equal to the current battery voltage (this was from a response I got from Palm that cryptically suggested this was required.  They also want $150 to change a battery.).

At this point I'm wondering if the battery packs are 'smart', such that they contain a device that the microcontroller communicates with and knows that the battery pack has been changed?  Is there anything else you're supposed to do when replacing the battery pack?  Thank you for any help or suggestions you may have.
