Would welcome any suggestions as to which i would go for. Either a PDA or smartphone. Pros and cons for each would be appreciated

Thanks for posting the question.  I would ask what your needs are first before makeing  any suggestions. If it's just checking email for example maybe simple calendar then I would say smart phone hands down.

You also get into what Operating system to run Palm, Windows Mobile, Pocket PC or Symbiam. Again depends on your needs and if how many third party applications you would like to run.

Best, Jim

Yes my "needs" would have been helpfull !!. At present i have a dedicated satnav device, phone and speed camera detector for use in the car and all do their job well but my recent change of job will require me to travel alot and use street parking in a lot of cases. I dont want to have to take out 3 items + cradals evertime i park up. I will be using Exchange to access my email when at my work base and Office 2003 so syncing my information is also key. Hope this helps you help me make my desicion.
Cheers
Tim

In case assuming you have the budget I would just go all out with Treo 700, seems like you will need some heavy lifting done.  You could go the Palm  rout as well Treo 650 but you would need 3rd party software for Office comatability.

Both are Smart Phones!

I was thinking more of the Windows Mobile route but you think that the Palm is better ?

Well, I have to step back and say that both have their good and bad points if you look at the review I wrote about the Black Jack (which run windows mobile) one of my chief complaints was it tends to lock up just like a PC.

Palm OS or whatever they calling it now has it's issues as well. Palm the company make both the 700 and 750, which runs windows Co-workers other collogues like it as a work tool. I have not herd good things about the Palm 680 however.
