Can you help a newby? My last PDA died and now my phone needs to be replaced. I would like to combine these in a phone. My main objective is to synchronize my Outlook contacts with my phone so that I have one "address book" rather than 2 or more. Email is handy on phone, but I don't use it much now. I have been looking at Palm Treo 650, but Verizon won't have it until later this month and it is pricey. Should I wait for it or is there a solution out there that will at least let me synch my phone with Outlook so that I can keep business and personal appts and contacts together as one and be more efficient.

Lots of problems reported with the 650 - you may want to look at my rant at -

and take a cruise around Pa1mOne's own Support Forum site -

(for example) before deciding one way or another. Lots out there elsewhere on the net, too..

I get the certain advantage of an all-in-one PDA and phone, but I worry that if (or when) something kacks on either the phone or PDA side and the unit has to be sent for repair, you're without both devices. Means more dongly bits fillng your pockets, but I think I prefer to have separate bits of hardware. In my situation, if the PDA had Wi-Fi I'd find that more useful (and cheaper to use) than an all-in-one wireless.

As you may gather from my rant, I haven't found anything to replace my PDA from the most recent offerings from Palm - so I can't offer any guidance there.

Good luck!

Us an "attached at the hip" Treo 650 user, I would certainly agree that
it has had it's issues.  However, I will definitely stand up and
defend the Treo as the best PDA, hands down, I've ever owned...and I've
had alot starting way back with the Palm Pilot with only 500k of memory.

Since adopting the Treo in my lifestyle, I have become more managed
with every aspect of my life having nearly every resource I need at my
fingertips 24/7...from email to web to IMing to multimedia, etc.

Don't discount the Treo in your search my friend...just do the reearch first.

The only thing that seperates the men from the boys...is the lessons they learn.
