Recently Palm held its quarterly fiscal report to its investor where sales figures were presented. Reports also of the performances of the latest release of Treo 750v in UK were also brought up.
News also of the future release of next TREO's were also been highlighted.
Howerer, what makes me gape in awe and shock is the declaration of PALM's CEO Ed Colligan about where he has been asked series of questions about the future release of next PDA's.
Abruptly, he respond, as I quote, Palm "has been very focused on being a smartphone company." - PALM CEO Ed Colligan.
I myself is a fan of PDA, currently I have in my possesion a LIFEDRIVE. I prefer to use PDA separate from my mobile phone as of now. Treo's were not much attractive to me. I don't like the antenna bungling out. It's too much old-fashioned gadgets. And I'll say, phone or smartphone with an antenna are not cool. It's very outdated.
Then that answer from Colligan definitely gave me a fright on where will the PDA be put on? History books? Museum? Welcome to the new age. bye PDA?
PDA has been going down the tubes for a while taking the hole "Palm Economy with it but the PDA/Smart Phone will do nothing but grow thanfuly. Little constalation for a stand alone PDA use as yourself.
The Smart phone will rescue the PDA industry even if we stop calling it a PDA. Of course my defination of a Smart phone ("has an OS that can run 3rd party applicatioins) is often different then OEM marketers.
I can't fault Palm for wanting to stay in business, they are just trying to give the consumer what they want.
How do like the Life Drive anyway?
